If you are unable to attend on May 26th, 2012, you may transfer your registration to someone else. (all transfers have to be done prior to May 20th, 2012 via email) There will be no transfers after May 20th. THIS IS FIRM. If it does not get transferred it will be lost. The email request for registration transfer must include the following information: First and last name +middle initial, DOB, address, tel #, email address

Coming July 2012!

Look for CrossFit Baytown to add CrossFit Endurance to the gym starting this July. CrossFit Endurance is a training program incorporating CrossFit principles in preparing athletes for endurance events, such as Triathlons, Marathons, and Adventure races. This is not your typical Long Slow Distance (LSD) running program. It uses a fraction of traditional training time required and uses more quality high intensity workouts in conjunction with traditional CrossFit WODs. We will have a goal Sprint Triathlon race in the month of September for those wishing to participate. Check back for details.

 

BLACK GOLD Strength and Conditioning

Are you ready for a place to do some hard core lifting? Power lifts, Olympic lifts, Strongman movements?

Black Gold Strength and Conditioning is a new gym powered by CrossFit Baytown, coming in June 2012. Black Gold will provide no non-sense power workouts.

Look for Olympic weightlifting groups, unconventional strength training including; tire flipping, stone lifts/throws/ sled dragging, and car pulls.

This ain’t for the faint of heart.

8 Week Challenge Completed

8 Week Challenge

Cinco de Mayo was a day for celebration for many.  For 10 dedicated athletes, it marked a day that ended a long journey that took place over 8 weeks. A journey that tested their mental fortitude, physical limits, and took them to new places both mentally and physically. They were part of an 8 week fitness challenge at CrossFit Baytown. Their goal was to decrease their body fat percentage, as well as increase their strength and endurance through a detailed program laid out by the coaching staff at CrossFit Baytown. They attended seminars at the gym covering nutrition, flexibility, strength and endurance. They pushed themselves through extra workouts, and implemented nutrition practices learned in the program. They bonded together as a team, and used the support of each other to accomplish what they once thought were impossible. At the end of the journey, almost every participant saw a decrease in body fat percentage. Many athletes maintained their weight, while dropping fat. You ask how? They dropped the fat pounds, and replaced it with lean muscle. The before and after photos speak wonders of their dedication to their fitness. The athletes completed a workout at the beginning of the challenge that utilized full body functional movements to test their strength and endurance. This same workout was done on May 5th at Jamaica Beach with family and friends cheering them on.  Every person who came out May 5th decreased their time significantly compared to the first time they did the workout.  These athletes showed heart, and pushed through lifes challenges.  The coaching staff at Crossfit Baytown feels very privileged to have had the opportunity to work with this great group.  We Look forward to the 2013 Challenge group and are excited to see what the rest of the year beholds!

Charly Baxter ~ How Crossfit Changed Her Life

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

I’ve always been a fairly active person; I’ve spent years running/jogging a mile or two a couple times a week, paying excessive gym fees at large chains, and quitting all of it after 3 months. I didn’t quit because I wasn’t getting results, it was primarily because I was bored with the same routine. Anyway, at the end of 2011, I saw a link to LIKE Crossfit Baytown on Facebook, and I joined Crossfit the day the doors opened; I was instantly hooked.

 

 Presently, I have been a member for exactly 5 months. During those 5 months I have lost 20 lbs and 10% body fat. My body shape has totally changed, and I continue to notice differences weekly. In addition, my fitness level is constantly improving and I am able to complete workouts I never thought I would get close to finishing. I remember my first workout at the gym. I was unable to do ½ of it and was completely embarrassed. I dreaded the workouts during the first couple weeks, but after a month I found myself looking forward to them. I check the website each morning to see if the WOD (work out of the day) is posted. I don’t check the website to see what I have to do; I check it to see what I GET to do.

 

 

I joined Crossfit during an emotionally challenging/draining time in my life and my spirits, attitude and life turned positive. Crossfit has given me a sense of confidence that I have never felt before. I feel great, I feel strong, and I know I look good. I have made wonderful friends through this gym and formed relationships that are irreplaceable. I have coaches that dependable, inspirational, understanding, and inspiring. They reply to my emails/text consistently, and make working out fun. We all have fun together. We are all in it together and there to cheer each other on. We know how hard we work, we know how tough it is, and we come there for results. It’s a bond that can’t be explained, but everyone is welcome to join it!

 

 

I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to join Crossfit Baytown, this gym has changed my life. I don’t foresee not being a member of Crossfit, and I’m excited to continue setting and reaching my goals. My goal is to loose 30 more lbs and participate in the Crossfit games next year.
